Journal 6

Prompt 2.
Rules: Every stanza begins and ends with the same word (begins with “she” and ends with “leave”). The last stanza breaks this rule for emphasis.

Leaving

She was what you would call a rebel.
A storm with a rebel heart,
and a gypsy soul,
perfectly conditioned to do,
what she did best. Leave.

She was born with a restlessness,
so deeply embedded in the core of her being,
that sometimes I wonder,
if she could ever be tamed.
Patience is a virtue, and it was her forte.
Just leave.

She was always waiting,
for something.
Time had planted a longing in her,
and that is a weed that never stops growing.
She has to leave.

She always seemed careless.
Her smile was the peak of her bloom,
ând my God,
how rare it is,
to see spectacular flowers blossom,
in the winter cold.
But she left.

Cento

This is the world we wanted.
Why do I not forget?
There is another thing,
he has in mind.

Age approaches, slowly.
Very quick. Very intense like a wolf.

No one remembers. Even you, my brother
who loves people and valiant art.
Ghastly, with open eyes he attends,
blind.

He went over everyone, & nobody’s missing.
Nobody is ever missing.

Journal 3

Version 1:

She stood tall,
with her head under water,
breathing deeply,
She was the definition of a ship wreck.

He emerged,
from the shallow waters,
pale as sea shells,
He was like her rock.

She always wondered,
where he went,
under that glass surface,
He was like a diver.

He swam,
into the deep abyss,
embracing the reef,
She was drowning,
on dry land.

Version 2:

She stood tall,
with her head under water,
breathing deeply,
She was the definition of a tropical storm.

He emerged,
from the shallow waters,
pale as parchment,
He was like her safety net.

She always wondered,
where he went,
under that glass surface,
He was like a traveler.

He swam,
into the deep abyss,
embracing the reef,
She was drowning,
on dry land.

Journal 2

A truck parked in the middle of a highway,
heavy rain drops crashing onto the roof.
I was standing there humiliated, as he began to list my flaws.
There is no formula for success,
Even if you are brave as a lion.

I have broken every bone in my body, trying to fit in,
Who knew that you could spell confusion with a K.
We are meeting there at twelve thirty, and I promise not to be late,
I want this feeling to go away,
I wish there were stairs that led to nowhere.

A soft fluffy little kitten yawns on the steps
As he wakes up from his nap.
Cock flavored ramen packets are lining the shelves,
If that is something you were jonesing for.

Throwing a football as far as you can,
I have always known the formula for success,
Do you think you can forget how to remember?

The smell of oil and gasoline hits you as you open the door,
An empty can lying on the floor next to Uncle Daniel,
As he was drowning in a sea of grief.
I can’t stop picturing his bloody knuckles,

Every inch of him scattered over the floor, walls, ceiling,
Jack the Ripper would have been proud.
As the deafening noise of the hammering rain grows louder,
You need to stop.
